DITTRICK MUSEUM OF MED HISTORY

The Dittrick Medical History Center & Museum is located in the Allen Memorial Medical Library at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Established in 1964, the Dittrick Museum is an educational resource for the study of medical history and the history of medicine. The museum houses a collection of over 8,000 artifacts and archival materials related to the history of medicine and health care, ranging from ancient artifacts to modern medical equipment. In addition, the museum also has an extensive library of books and journals related to the history of medicine.

The Dittrick Museum offers a variety of exhibits, programs, and educational opportunities related to medical history. Visitors can explore the history of medicine through the museum’s permanent exhibits which include the Early Medical Practice in Ohio exhibit, the History of Cleveland Medicine exhibit, and the Cleveland Medical Hall of Fame. The museum also offers a variety of workshops and lectures throughout the year.

The Dittrick Museum is open to the public and admission is free. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. There is also an online virtual museum which provides access to the museum’s collection, including photographs, manuscripts, objects, and audio and video clips. The Dittrick Museum strives to provide a comprehensive understanding of the history of medicine and health care and to inspire curiosity and inspire learning.
