The Montgomery County Historical Society (MCHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Montgomery County, Alabama. Established in 1972, the organization is dedicated to researching, collecting, and preserving the history of the county for the benefit of the public.

MCHS's primary activities include collecting, preserving, and interpreting the county's historical artifacts, documents, photographs, and other materials. The society operates several museums and historic sites throughout Montgomery County, including the Heritage Museum, the First White House of the Confederacy, and the Alabama State Capitol.

MCHS also offers educational programs and workshops, publishes educational materials and books, and organizes an annual heritage festival. The organization also works to promote the county's heritage and culture through the publication of its quarterly magazine, The Montgomery County Historical Journal.

In addition, MCHS is actively involved in research and collecting activities, such as the Montgomery County Historic Sites Project, which is dedicated to preserving and recording the county's historic sites. The society also organizes programs designed to encourage the public to explore and appreciate the county's history and culture.

MCHS is committed to promoting the county's history and culture through its work and encourages the public to get involved in preserving their local history. Through their dedication and commitment to preserving and promoting the history of Montgomery County, Alabama, the Montgomery County Historical Society is helping to ensure that future generations can enjoy and appreciate the rich history of the county.
