The Museum of Ashe County History in Jefferson, NC is a unique and educational destination to discover the history of Ashe County. Other permanent exhibits include the Revolutionary War in Ashe County, the Civil War in Ashe County and the Great Fire of 1877. The museum also houses a genealogy library and a gift shop.
The museum also offers educational programs for all ages, such as a “living history” program, where costumed interpreters bring the history of Ashe County to life. There are also seasonal special events, such as the annual Ashe County Frontier Festival.
The Museum of Ashe County History is open year-round, from Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Admission is free, and donations are accepted. The museum is a great place to learn about the history of the area and to experience the culture of Ashe County.
