Charlotte Zoological Park Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Founded in 1975, the park is home to more than 2,000 animals, representing more than 200 species from around the world. The park is divided into three distinct habitats: the African Savanna, the Tropical Rainforest, and the Catawba Shores.
The African Savanna is a recreated African grassland habitat, where visitors can observe giraffes, zebras, and ostriches. The Tropical Rainforest is a lush, dense habitat with a wide variety of animals, including monkeys, jaguars, and exotic birds. The Catawba Shores serves as an educational center, where visitors can learn about the local ecosystems, as well as the plants and animals that inhabit them.
In addition to its animal habitats, the park also provides guests with numerous educational and recreational experiences. Guests can take part in educational tours and demonstrations, explore interactive exhibits, and participate in conservation efforts. The park also offers a variety of events and special programs, such as the annual Zoo-to-Do fundraiser, the ZooBoo Halloween celebration, and the ZooLights holiday display.
