It has an individual listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The understated Italianate brick structure was built around 1887 for A. C. Zollicoffer (1854-1922), a lawyer who had come to Henderson in 1881. The building is only 2 bays wide and 2 deep. Both levels of the law office have two windows with segmental-arched openings in the front facade. These four windows are 9/9 sash, accented by arched brick. The wooden front entrance is paneled and is capped by an arched transom; a window flanks each side of the door. The pilaster strips on each side of the facade enclose the recessed area of the facade. These strips connect with the bracketed cornice, the brackets add a subtle decorative touch by their irregular placement. A dentil course extends the full width of the structure. Below this is a frieze of decorated incised panels. Spanning the first level is a small porch with posts between which are sawn brackets that create an arch in each of the 3 bays. The porch is enclosed by a turned balustrade. The repeating arch element provides a subtle contrast to the front facade. Also, two images of wing venation. This largely western species is scarce in the Southeast, with only a few records on BugGuide or iNaturalist. It is perhaps being overlooked, as it really does resemble its bee associates. After autumn foliage disappears and trees are bare in the woods, the American Beech lightens the views with its pale brown leaves, which remain all winter long. The leaves in spring eventually replace the brown. The phenomenon fascinates me, yet I've not been able to photograph these forest scenes with clarity that pleases me. Of over 50 shots taken in various locations, these at Buffalo Springs Archaeological District are the best.
