Reynolds Battery L First NY Light Artillery was a Civil War military unit based in Lockport, NY. The battery was organized on September 5, 1861, and was named after its commanding officer, Captain Gilbert M. Reynolds. The unit was made up of men from Niagara County and surrounding areas, and it served in several important battles during the Civil War.

Reynolds Battery L was equipped with six 10-pounder Parrott rifles, which were highly prized for their accuracy and long range. The battery was known for its excellent marksmanship and was often called upon to provide artillery support in key battles. The unit saw action in the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and many others.

The battery suffered heavy losses during the war, with 31 men killed in action or dying of their wounds and disease. After the war, the battery returned to Lockport, NY, where it was mustered out of service on June 13, 1865. Today, the legacy of Reynolds Battery L First NY Light Artillery is remembered through historical markers, monuments, and reenactments. The unit's bravery and sacrifice are celebrated as an important part of American history.
