March 30, 2023: Christian Education Building, First Church of Evans, Evans, New York The Christian Education Building is the most recently built element of the otherwise immensely historic First Church of Evans complex in the town of Evans, New York: designed by architect Olaf Shelgren, Jr., it was completed in 1966.

January 20, 2023: WDCX radio transmitter building and tower, Boston, New York A view of the transmitter building and tower of radio station WDCX, located in the town of Boston, New York. Rising 348 feet above the top of a low hill just off Zimmerman Road, the tower beams its signal in a non-directional pattern over a roughly 8,000-square-mile area that covers virtually all of the Niagara Frontier as well as many adjacent regions: a circle extending from Hamilton, Ontario in the northwest to Bradford, Pennsylvania in the southeast to the outer suburbs of Rochester in the northeast. The oldest continually operating Christian radio station in the Buffalo market, and only the second of any format to broadcast in stereophonic sound, WDCX signed on the air in February 1963 and, from its <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/carrotflowerproductionsintl/52967610448">studios</a> on Delaware Avenue just north of downtown, today broadcasts a schedule of nationally syndicated religious programming both on its original frequency of 99.5 FM as well as via two AM simulcasts (WDCZ 970 in Buffalo; WDCX 990 in Rochester) and one Class D FM translator (W296EF 107.1 in Rochester).

Faith United Church of Christ, Boston, New York, January 2023 Faith United Church of Christ, 8651 Boston State Road, Boston, New York, January 2023. A work of the Buffalo-based architectural firm of Shelgren, Patterson &amp; Marzec, this two-story brick church complex was described in news coverage of its dedication as being Colonial in style, but instead serves as a prime example of the firm's conservative and traditionalist-informed take on Modern architecture, with the latter's requisite sleek lines, simplified forms, and geometric angularity but a scheme of ornamentation that both is quite a bit less austere than the norm and also unashamedly hearkens back to earlier architectural traditions. This is most visible on the central spire, with its louvered base, as well as the Classical-style broken pediment that comprises the gable of the glass-faced entrance vestibule, a later addition to the building that is nonetheless harmonious in design. The United Church of Christ as a denomination was founded in 1957 as a merger of the Congregational Christian and Evangelical &amp; Reformed Churches, and this is echoed in Faith's own history as an individual congregation: it traces its history to January 10, 1960, when St. Paul's Evangelical &amp; Reformed Church of Boston and the small, struggling, Congregationalist-affiliated Community Church in nearby Patchin - two faith communities that counted long traditions in the Boston Valley dating back to 1834 and 1835 respectively, and which had already shared the same pastor for several years - signed a Basis of Union and began holding joint services. Under the direction of the Rev. Richard Whitney, they soon purchased a six-acre plot of land roughly midway between the sites of the two original parent churches and continued holding services in the former's building (now home of the Boston Historical Society) until the completion of their present one, for which ground was broken in August 1965. Aided by volunteer labor from the congregants themselves, construction proceeded briskly and the building, comprising a 300-capacity sanctuary, 200-capacity fellowship hall, seven Sunday school classrooms, and a full-size kitchen, was dedicated just nine months later.

January 11, 2023: Faith United Church of Christ, Boston, New York Though its own history <i>per se</i> dates back only to 1960, Faith United Church of Christ in Boston, New York is heir to the legacies of two faith communities that each counted long traditions in the town, dating back to 1834 and 1835 respectively.
