Restored vernal pool wetlands in Tioga County, New York A restored vernal pool wetland supports amphibians and other wildlife at Michigan Hill State Forest in Tioga County, N.Y., on June 12, 2021. Such vernal pools improve water quality and provide habitat for 32 amphibian species in New York, a state that has lost roughly half of its historical wetlands to development and agriculture. The Upper Susquehanna Coalition (USC), in partnership the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, developed designs for the wetlands that would maximize site diversity and habitat value. According to a USC press release, "The building process involved digging holes of varying sizes in gently sloped areas with poorly drained soil. The holes then filled with rainwater and groundwater, and natural materials such as topsoil, leaf litter, rocks, and sticks were added to encourage native plant growth and provide cover to attract wildlife." Smithville Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history of Smithville Flats, a small rural community located in Chenango County, New York. The society was founded in 1964 by a group of local residents who recognized the importance of preserving the town's heritage for future generations.

The Smithville Historical Society maintains a museum and research center, which houses a wide range of historical artifacts, photographs, documents, and other memorabilia related to the town's past. Marathon New York ~ Art Deco School Marathon is a town in Cortland County, New York, United States. The population was 2,189 at the 2000 census. The Town of Marathon contains the village of Marathon. The town is on the south border of the county and is southeast of Cortland.

NY - Binghamton: Spiedie & Rib Pit The Spiedie & Rib Pit was established in 1993 by John and Susie Lupo Schofield. Originally located 1268 Upper Front Street, the eatery expanded next-door taking over a former Pizza Hut on 1274 Front Street in 2019, retaining the original space for prep work. The spiedie is a regional specialty local to Binghamton, consists of marinated cubes of meat--usually chicken, pork, lamb, or beef--grilled over spits on a charcoal pit, served on a soft Italian bread or submarine roll. The origins of the spiedie, derived from the Italian word spiedo meaning spit, dates to the Italian immigrants in the early 1920s. Although the exact origin is disputed Camillo Iacovelli created the spiedie in Endwell, New York, and was serving them in 1938 at his Parkview Restaurant on Oak Hill Ave in Endicott.
