Westchester County Historical Society (WCHS) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1971. It is located in Elmsford, New York and serves as the regional source for knowledge, research and preservation of the history of Westchester County. WCHS is dedicated to the acquisition, preservation and interpretation of the historical and cultural heritage of Westchester County and its people.

The Westchester County Historical Society operates the historic DeWint House, the Jacob Purdy House, and the Horace Greeley House museum. The DeWint House is the headquarters of the society and serves as a museum and archival repository. It was built in 1797 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Jacob Purdy House is a 1795 Dutch colonial home open for tours and is located in White Plains. The Horace Greeley House is a restored 18th-century home in Chappaqua and offers guided tours, educational programs and research services.

WCHS also offers educational programs, lectures, workshops, and special events throughout the year. The organization also provides research services, including access to the archives, a library, and a photo archive. In addition, the society works with the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation to promote preservation and public awareness of the county’s historic sites.

The Westchester County Historical Society is a valuable source of information and education about the history of Westchester County, and provides a wealth of resources for residents, students and scholars.
