OLANA STATE HISTORIC SITE

Olana State Historic Site is a 250-acre estate located in Hudson, New York, on the east bank of the Hudson River. The estate was home to the American artist Frederic Edwin Church and his family from 1860 until Church's death in 1900. The estate was designed by Church himself, and the house, which is now a museum, is a unique blend of Victorian, Persian, and Moorish architectural styles.

The house has 35 rooms, including Church's studio, which offers stunning views of the Hudson River and the surrounding landscape. The estate also includes several outbuildings, including a carriage house, a greenhouse, and a farm complex. The gardens, which were designed by Church's wife, are also a highlight of the estate, featuring a diverse collection of plants and trees from around the world.

Today, Olana State Historic Site is open to the public and offers guided tours of the house and grounds. The site also hosts a variety of events and programs, including concerts, lectures, and art exhibitions. The estate is recognized as a National Historic Landmark and is considered one of the most important examples of 19th-century American art and architecture.
