The A.L. Martin Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Thomasville, Alabama. Established in 1998, the Foundation works to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Thomasville and the surrounding area, by providing educational and economic opportunities, encouraging community development, and promoting health and wellness.

The Foundation's mission is to provide resources to enhance the educational, economic, and health opportunities of the citizens of Thomasville and the surrounding area. To this end, they provide grants and scholarships to local students, support youth and adult literacy programs, and assist with community development. Additionally, they offer a variety of programs to promote health and wellness, such as nutrition and fitness classes and health screenings.

The Foundation works in partnership with other organizations in the area, such as schools, churches, businesses, and government agencies, to ensure that all citizens have access to the resources they need. They also partner with local businesses to provide job opportunities and training programs.

The A.L. Martin Foundation is committed to the long-term development of the community and is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of the people of Thomasville and the surrounding area. Through their commitment, they are helping to create a brighter future for all.

Backpacking at Lake Vesuvius The Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area has several trails, offering visitors short options to long, multi-day excursions. Backpacking is popular at Lake Vesuvius. There is a 17 mile long backpacking trail, as well as an 8 mile long Lakeshore Trail. These trails intersect at several places, offering visitors several routes and loop options.
