The Lincoln County Historical Society (LCHS) is dedicated to preserving the rich history of Lincoln County, New Mexico. Founded in 1959, this non-profit organization has been dedicated to preserving and interpreting the stories of the area’s past for over sixty years. Its mission is to promote the preservation of historical and archaeological sites, artifacts, and records throughout Lincoln County for the education and enjoyment of the public.

LCHS operates out of the Lincoln County Heritage and Research Center in Lincoln, New Mexico. This facility houses a variety of artifacts, photographs, documents, and other items related to the county’s history. There is also a research library with over 4,000 volumes, a genealogy department, a museum, and a gift shop. The facility hosts special events and workshops throughout the year, such as lectures, tours, and other educational opportunities.

LCHS also publishes a quarterly newsletter and an annual journal of historical and archaeological research. This organization also produces a variety of educational publications, such as books, pamphlets, and DVDs.

In addition to its educational and research efforts, LCHS is engaged in a variety of preservation projects. These projects include archaeological surveys, historic preservation projects, and the restoration of historic buildings, such as the Lincoln County Courthouse. The society is also actively involved in the community, supporting various local events throughout the year.
