Lansing Model Railroad Club Inc is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting and preserving the hobby of model railroading. The club was founded in 1953 and is located in East Lansing, Michigan. It is a member of the National Model Railroad Association and is one of the oldest model railroad clubs in the state.

The club operates a large HO scale model railroad layout, which is open to the public on selected weekends throughout the year. The layout features a variety of scenery, including mountains, rivers, and cities, and is operated by a team of skilled model railroaders.

In addition to operating the model railroad, the club also hosts a variety of events and activities, including workshops, clinics, and train shows. Members of the club are involved in a variety of aspects of the hobby, including modeling, electrical wiring, scenery building, and train operation.

Lettering, names, and weathering all point to the 1970s How different the economy, cost of living, and daily preoccupations and aspirations then versus now. Seeing this time traveler from a business long gone hearkens back to world and local events from about 50 years ago. The street name is Railroad Street, but the last passenger service ended in the early 1970s and the final freight train was later in the 1980s. By the early 2000s the rail-trail conversion was well underway on the CIS (Clinton, Ionia, Shiawassee) east-west route for joggers, walkers, and bicyclists (skiers in winter). Tracks and Clouds Thought I'd post a color version of yesterday's daily photo because I'm really not sure which version I like better. Please notice the Sunfield grain elevator beside the tracks a couple miles down the way. You can just barely make it out in this photo. ========== The road paralleling the tracks is Gates Road. Do note that: 1) I'm also on Gates. 2) A driver making the left turn indicated by that sign will remain on Gates. 3) If that hypothetical driver were to it's right--which is permitted, though it's a dead end--he or she will still be on Gates.
