The Grindstone City Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in Port Austin, Michigan. Founded in 1980, the society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Grindstone City, a small village located on the shore of Lake Huron.

The society's main focus is on the Grindstone Industry, which was once a major economic force in the area. Grindstones were quarried from the nearby shores of Lake Huron and shipped all over the world for use in mills and factories. The society has collected many artifacts and exhibits related to the industry, including a restored grindstone quarry, a working blacksmith shop, and a museum filled with historical photographs and documents.

Campground Pic I'm not sure what that building does, but it's not an outhouse. Port Crescent State Park, near the tip of Michigan's thumb, on 8/25/2015. We remember this as a bad vacation, mostly because we didn't much like the campground and the weather was extremely windy and somewhat chilly for our entire stay. And we expected more hiking trails than we actually found. On the other hand, we found a couple decent restaurants and used the park as a base for exploring much of the thumb. 'Twasn't a total loss.
