LAKE ST CLAIR SAVE OUR SOUTH CHANNEL LIGHTS

Lake St Clair Save Our South Channel Lights is a lighthouse preservation project located on Harsens Island, Michigan. The project was initiated by the St Clair County Historical Society in 2015 as a way to protect and preserve the maritime heritage of the area. The lighthouse, built in 1918, is the last remaining of its kind in the county and serves as a navigational aid in the lower end of Lake St Clair.
The lighthouse, which stands at approximately 30 feet tall, is a historic landmark of Harsens Island. The lighthouse consists of a light tower with a red brick base, a lantern room, and a fog signal. The light tower is painted white and the lantern room is made of cast iron. In addition to the lighthouse, the project works to preserve other maritime artifacts in the area, such as buoys, channel markers, and other navigational aids.
The project works to restore and protect the historic lighthouse, as well as other artifacts in the area. The project has received support from the local community, as well as the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the St Clair County Historical Society. The project hosts a variety of events to promote their cause, such as the Annual Lighthouse Festival, which celebrates the local maritime heritage of the area.
