The White Lake Area Historical Society Inc. (WLAHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Whitehall, Michigan and the surrounding area. Founded in 1967, WLAHS has been working for more than 50 years to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the White Lake area. The Society is located in historic downtown Whitehall, and its mission is to promote the appreciation and understanding of the history of the White Lake area.
The WLAHS operates a museum and archives, which house a variety of historical artifacts, documents, photographs and other materials related to the area’s history. The museum also offers a variety of educational programs and events, including lectures, workshops, field trips, and special events. The Society also offers a variety of resources for local researchers, including access to the archives and a library.
The White Lake Area Historical Society also seeks to engage the community by hosting a variety of activities, including an annual History Fair, which features a variety of activities, vendors, and displays. In addition, the Society also holds a variety of lectures, workshops, and other events throughout the year.
The White Lake Area Historical Society is an important part of the Whitehall community, and its work helps ensure that the history of the area is remembered and appreciated for generations to come.
