The San Jacinto Museum in San Jacinto, California is a unique and historic museum located in the heart of the San Jacinto Valley. The museum was established in 1929, and is dedicated to preserving the history of the San Jacinto Valley and the San Jacinto Mountains. The museum showcases the area’s Native American and early pioneer history, including artifacts, photographs, maps, and other memorabilia.

The museum is housed in a three-story, neoclassical building and features a large bell tower. Inside, visitors can explore the museum’s exhibits, including an exhibit dedicated to the Battle of San Jacinto, which was an important battle in the Texas Revolution. Perris / Bank of Perris – museum (#0025) Very well preserved historic bank building in downtown Perris. It was built in 1918 and locally operated until 1947, when it was bought by another bank. At some point in relatively recent history it was bought by the city and now houses the archives of the Perris Valley Historical Museum.

Perris / downtown (# 0022) Though small, downtown Perris was in good shape with multiple, active, small businesses and many customers. The town is quite historic by Southern California suburban standards. It was founded in 1885 as a railroad town and is named after Fred Perris of the California Southern Railroad. Perris / Perris Theater (# 0018) Opened in 1946, designed in an art-deco style but apparently modified at various times. It’s now owned by the city for its historical value to downtown, but closed due to structural problems. Pictures in the below links show the theater as once having a marquee around the base of the tall sign. Perris / SoCal Rail Museum passenger (# 0011) Collection of abandoned passenger cars off in the distance at the Southern California Railroad Museum. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any way to get a closer shot…. The day I visited the museum there was almost no one there, which made it easier to explore the grounds but I didn’t get into any of the car barns. Perris / SoCal Rail Rio Grande Baggage - Museum (# 0015) One of two Denver & Rio Grande baggage cars that house the <i>Middleton Museum of Toy Trains & Americana</i> at the Southern California Railroad Museum. Unfortunately, couldn’t find any detail about the toy train museum – so will have to visit... The day I visited the museum there was almost no one there, which made it easier to explore the grounds but I didn’t get into any of the car barns. Pictures from visiting those at a previous time are with the tag to Southern California Railway Museum.
Perris / SoCal Rail Museum UP 2564 (# 0007) Originally built in 1921 for a Union Pacific subsidiary and traded UP subsidiary “Oregon Short Line” in 1923 where it was used until 1955. Retired in 1959 and wound up at this museum in 1997.
