Wurtsmith Division Yankee Air Force in Oscoda, MI is located in the northeast corner of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The facility was originally established in 1925 as Camp Skeel and later renamed Camp Skeel-Wurtsmith in 1942. It was an Army artillery range and training facility until it was transferred to the United States Air Force in 1948. The base was renamed Wurtsmith Air Force Base in 1951 and served as a strategic bomber base until its closure in 1993.

The base is currently an inactive installation and is managed by the U.S. Air Force. The base is home to the Yankee Air Museum and the Wurtsmith Air Museum, both of which are dedicated to preserving the history of military aviation. The base also serves as a popular recreation site, offering camping, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

The base is home to a number of historical buildings and monuments, including the Wurtsmith Air Museum, a monument to the Cold War, and a memorial to the men and women who served at the base.
