Blackstone Valley Angel of Hope is a memorial located in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, dedicated to the memory of all children who have died too soon. The memorial consists of a bronze angel sculpture standing over 8 feet tall, standing atop a granite base and surrounded by a circle of stones. The angel holds a dove in her hands, representing peace and hope. The memorial was created in 2000 by local artist and sculptor, Peter deLotto, and was funded by the generosity of local families, businesses, and organizations.
The Angel of Hope Memorial is situated in a serene, wooded setting along the banks of the Blackstone River, within the Blackstone Valley National Historic Park. The tranquil setting of the memorial serves as a reminder of the beauty of life and the hope of eternal peace that is offered to our lost loved ones. The memorial is open to the public and serves as a gathering place for family, friends, and community members to come together to remember and honor their lost children.
The inscription on the memorial reads, “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.” Each year, on the first Sunday of December, a candlelight ceremony is held at the memorial to honor the memory of all children who have passed away too soon. During this ceremony, families, friends, and community members come together to remember, honor, and celebrate the lives of the children they have lost.
