The Newburyport Preservation Trust Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1983 to promote the preservation and protection of the historic buildings, sites, and landscapes of the City of Newburyport, Massachusetts. The Trust is dedicated to preserving the architectural, cultural, and environmental heritage of the city and surrounding region.

The Trust is the only organization of its kind in the region and works to identify, protect, and restore significant historic properties in Newburyport. They also provide educational programs and advocacy on behalf of local historic resources. The Trust works to acquire and preserve significant buildings, artifacts, and open spaces in Newburyport, as well as to promote public access to and enjoyment of these resources.

The Trust has successfully acquired and preserved several important buildings and sites in the city, including the Bartlett-Tileston House, the Little Greenhouse, and the former Portsmouth Grove Cemetery. They have also worked to preserve buildings associated with the city’s maritime history, such as the Old Gaol and the Wharves District. In addition, the Trust has facilitated the restoration of buildings such as the Custom House and the Inn Street Church, and has been involved in the development of a number of open spaces, including the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and the Cashman Park.
