The Harvard Historical Society is a student-run organization that strives to foster an appreciation for Harvard’s long and varied history. Founded in 1897, the Society is one of the oldest student-run organizations in the United States.

The Society offers a variety of activities to its members, including walking tours, lectures, and seminars on Harvard’s history. Its library is filled with books, journals, and other materials on Harvard and its surrounding area.

The Society also publishes a quarterly journal, and a book series, both of which are filled with essays, biographies, and other works related to Harvard’s history. It also hosts an annual conference on Harvard’s history, which brings together scholars, students, and alumni to discuss the university’s past.

The Society also plays an active role in preserving Harvard’s history. It works with outside organizations and the Harvard archives to identify and document rare artifacts, photographs, and documents, which are then preserved in the Society’s archives.
