It was taken by my wife while she was reclining on a lounge chair on the beach near the Brant Point Lighthouse in Nantucket. That’s me on the left, taking care not to step on the sharp edges of small stones and sea shells.

The Nantucket Life Saving Museum is a historic maritime museum located on the island of Nantucket in Massachusetts. The museum is housed in the former Life Saving Station, which was built in 1874 and served as a base for the United States Life-Saving Service. The structure has been restored to its original design and features exhibits that highlight the history of the Life-Saving Service, as well as the island's maritime heritage.

Visitors to the museum can explore displays of rescue equipment and read about the heroic efforts of the Life-Saving Service, which was responsible for saving countless lives along the treacherous Nantucket coastline. The museum also features exhibits on the island's whaling industry, shipwrecks, and the role of women in maritime history.
