The Scituate Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Town of Scituate, Massachusetts. Founded in 1945, the Society has been involved in a variety of activities to promote historical knowledge and appreciation of the town's past. These include the maintenance of an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, photographs, and other materials related to Scituate's history; hosting educational programs and lectures; and providing research access to its collections.

The Society’s headquarters is located in the Thomas E. Watson House, a former sea captain’s home built in 1845. The house is open to the public for tours and contains a variety of exhibits and artifacts related to Scituate's past. The Society also maintains the John Prior House, a former 17th century religious meeting house, which is open to the public for tours and educational programs.

In addition to its educational and preservation efforts, the Society is actively engaged in several other activities. These include the publication of books and pamphlets about Scituate's history; the maintenance of a historical library and research archives; the organization of an annual Scituate Heritage Festival; and the management of an online store featuring a variety of historical products. The Society also offers a range of volunteer opportunities, including docent and research positions, membership programs, and internships. With its commitment to preserving and promoting the history of the Town of Scituate, the Scituate Historical Society serves as an important resource for those interested in learning more about this unique New England community.
