The Maine Historical Society (MHS) is located in Portland, Maine and is the state’s oldest cultural organization. Founded in 1822, MHS is dedicated to preserving and sharing Maine’s past. The society boasts a library and museum with more than 150,000 artifacts, photos, books, and more, telling the story of Maine’s past.
