The Clover Bend Historical and Preservation District in Black Rock, Arkansas is a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located in Lawrence County and encompasses an area of approximately 7.5 acres. The district was established in 1991 in order to preserve the area’s historic resources.
The Clover Bend district includes a variety of structures from the 19th and 20th centuries, including houses, commercial buildings, churches, and a school. The district is comprised of significant structures that reflect the area’s history, including the Clover Bend Hotel, the Clover Bend Methodist Church, and the Clover Bend School. The hotel, constructed in the late 1800s, is the oldest building in the district. It is an example of the Stick/Eastlake style, featuring a two-story frame building with a wrap-around porch and a gable roof. The church, built in the early 1900s, is an example of the Gothic Revival style, featuring a gable roof and a two-story, two-bay facade. The school, built in the early 1900s, is an example of the Craftsman style, featuring a single-story, wood-frame structure with a hipped roof.
The district is one of the best-preserved historic communities in the region, offering a glimpse into the past. It is a reminder of the area’s rich history and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
