Nicodemus National Historic Site Ranger on Wheels

The town of Nicodemus, Kansas was founded in 1877 by black settlers fleeing the Jim Crow Laws of the Deep South. The town prospered for awhile, however when the railroad bypassed the town it began a long decline. Today less than 100 people live in Nicodemus. The National Park Service, together with the residents of Nicodemus, preserve five historic buildings in the historic town.

The Logan Area Historical Museum is a small museum located in Logan, Kansas. The museum is dedicated to preserving the history of Logan and the surrounding area. The museum was established in 1984 and is operated by the Logan Area Historical Society.

The museum is housed in a former bank building that was built in 1907. The building was donated to the historical society in the 1980s and was renovated to become the museum. The museum has several rooms filled with exhibits, including a room dedicated to the history of the town of Logan, a room with displays on local businesses and industries, and a room with exhibits on agriculture and farming in the area.

The museum also has a collection of artifacts and memorabilia, including photographs, documents, and objects from the early days of the town. Some of the highlights of the collection include a collection of antique tools and farming equipment, a display on the Kansas Pacific Railroad, and a collection of vintage clothing and accessories.

The Logan Area Historical Museum is open from May through September and is staffed by volunteers. The museum is a great place to learn about the history of Logan and the surrounding area, and it is a must-visit for anyone interested in local history.
