The Quasqueton Area Historical Society (QAHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Quasqueton, Iowa area. Founded in 2004, the Society is devoted to researching and collecting artifacts related to the area’s past, as well as sharing the stories of its residents through exhibits, programs, events and publications.
QAHS operates out of the historic Quasqueton Grand Opera House, a venue originally built in 1888. The building serves as a museum and educational center, where visitors can explore its rich history through artifacts, photographs and displays. In addition, the Society hosts a variety of special programs and events throughout the year, including annual lectures and presentations by local historians, theatrical performances, and holiday celebrations.
The Society also works to preserve the area’s history through its publication of books, newsletters, and other materials. Its recently published book, “Quasqueton: A History,” contains a wealth of information about the area’s past, from its earliest settlers to the present day.
The Society’s mission is to honor the past and celebrate the present, and it works to do this by providing a forum for residents to share their stories and memories. Through its work, the Society continues to build a stronger, more connected community in Quasqueton, Iowa.
