John Wayne Birthplace is located in Winterset, Iowa. The birthplace of one of the most iconic actors of all time, John Wayne, is now a museum and tourist attraction.

The birthplace is located on a two-acre lot, which was purchased by John Wayne's parents in 1912. On May 26, 1907, Marion Robert Morrison, better known as John Wayne, was born in a two-room house on the lot. In 1982, the Iowa General Assembly declared the house a state historic site.

In 1991, the John Wayne Birthplace Society purchased the house and lot. The organization restored the house to its original condition and opened it as a museum to the public in 2000. The house is a two-story frame building with a wrap-around porch and red brick foundation. The interior of the house features period furniture and artifacts from John Wayne's childhood and film career.

The museum offers guided tours of the house and grounds. Visitors can also view John Wayne's memorabilia and artifacts, browse the gift shop and watch a short film on John Wayne's life. The museum also features a library, which houses books and magazines about John Wayne, as well as a genealogical research center.

The museum is open year round, with the exception of major holidays. There is an admission fee for adults and children and discounts are available for groups of ten or more. The John Wayne Birthplace is a popular destination for fans of the actor and is a great way to learn more about the life and career of one of America's most beloved actors.
