The Arizona Archaeological and Historical Society (AAHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the study and preservation of the history, archaeology, anthropology, and cultural heritage of Arizona. Founded in Tucson in 1924, the AAHS is now the oldest and largest statewide organization of its kind in Arizona.

The Society’s mission is to promote public understanding and appreciation of the history, archaeology, and anthropology of Arizona and to advocate for the preservation of Arizona’s cultural heritage. The organization achieves this through a variety of educational and outreach activities, such as public lectures, field trips, and school programs. The AAHS also publishes a quarterly journal, the Journal of Arizona History, and an annual newsletter, The Archives.

The AAHS sponsors several professional development opportunities, including a professional archaeology conference, an annual symposium, and special workshops. The Society also provides an awards program to recognize outstanding achievement in the field of Arizona archaeology, anthropology, and history.

The AAHS is governed by an executive council and a board of directors, both of which are made up of members of the Society. The Society also has several committees, including the Publications Committee, the Education and Outreach Committee, and the Fundraising and Membership Committee. Membership is open to anyone interested in furthering the mission of the AAHS.
