Moon blocks out the sun Here's one of my basic images of the solar eclipse as I looked straight up. Simple. Plain. The sun and moon later would reach roughly 3 minutes of totality at Mascatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, Indiana. During the high noon event, a paddling of mallards became quiet and then disappeared in the pond behind me. I assume to rest for the brief night.
