The Pleasant Plains Historical Society was established in 1989 as a nonprofit organization to preserve and share the history of Pleasant Plains and surrounding areas in Illinois. It is located in the town of Pleasant Plains, in Sangamon County.

The Society’s mission is to preserve and interpret the history of Pleasant Plains and the surrounding area. It collects, preserves, interprets, and shares artifacts, documents, photographs, and oral histories related to the area’s history. The Society also promotes the appreciation of local history through public lectures and educational programs.

The Society also operates a museum with various exhibits of artifacts and documents from the area. The museum features items such as coins, furniture, clothing, documents, photographs, and other artifacts from the area’s past. The museum is open to the public from April through October and by appointment.
