The Bonfield Area Historical Society (BAHS) is a non-profit organization located in Bonfield, Illinois. It is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the area. BAHS was founded in 1978 by a group of local citizens concerned about the preservation of the region’s unique history and culture. The society’s mission is to collect, preserve and interpret the history of the Bonfield area.

The BAHS is housed in the historic John B. Brandt building, which was built in 1889 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is home to a museum and research library, as well as a gift shop. The museum houses a collection of artifacts, documents, photographs and other materials related to the history of the area. The research library has a collection of books, newspapers, maps, manuscripts and other materials related to the area.

The BAHS sponsors a variety of educational programs and events throughout the year. These include lectures, workshops, field trips and special events. The society also works with local schools and other organizations to promote an appreciation of the history and culture of the area.

In addition to its museum and research library, the BAHS also operates an online digital archive. This archive contains digitized versions of the society’s documents, photographs, maps and other materials. The archive is available to the public for research and educational purposes.

The BAHS is committed to sharing the history and culture of the Bonfield area with the world. The society is open to the public and welcomes visitors to explore the museum, research library and digital archive.
