The Buffalo Creek Valley Historical Society in Sterling, Illinois is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and educating the public about the history of the region. Founded in 1957, the Society works to research, collect and preserve records, documents, artifacts and photographs related to the area's history.
The Society is located in a restored circa 1867 schoolhouse in Sterling, Illinois and serves as a museum and research center. The museum has a collection of artifacts and items related to the history of Sterling and surrounding communities, as well as a library of books and other materials.
The Society also hosts numerous programs and special events throughout the year. These events may include presentations by local historians, musical performances, and re-enactments. They also host an annual summer picnic and an annual holiday open house.
