From what I saw of the clientele loitering outdoors…I’d find a better place to stay overnight.

The Saline County Genealogical Society (SCGS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to researching and preserving the history of Saline County, Illinois. Located in Harrisburg, IL, the Society was founded in 1994 by a group of local citizens interested in preserving the history of their county. The Society works closely with the Saline County Historical Society to research, collect, and preserve records and documents related to the county’s history.

SCGS members have access to a library of genealogical resources, including books, microfilm, and other archival materials. They also offer access to an online database of records and documents related to the county’s history. The Society provides a variety of educational programs, including classes and workshops on genealogical research, and offers lectures on local history topics.

The Society is a member of the Federation of Genealogical Societies and the Illinois State Genealogical Society. It is also a member of the National Genealogical Society. Membership in SCGS is open to anyone interested in researching and preserving the history of Saline County. The Society holds monthly meetings at the Saline County Courthouse in Harrisburg, IL.
