The Greene County Historical and Genealogical Society (GCHGS) is a non-profit organization located in Carrollton, Illinois. Founded in 1976, the GCHGS is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Greene County’s rich history and genealogy. The Society actively collects and preserves Greene County artifacts, photos and documents, and provides a variety of programs and services to the public.
The GCHGS operates a research library and museum out of their headquarters in the old Greene County Courthouse in Carrollton.
