VETERANS MEMORIAL HALL

Veterans Memorial Hall in Rockford, Illinois is a tribute to the brave men and women who have served their country in the United States Armed Services. The building was constructed in 1931 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in a Beaux Arts style and is considered to be one of the most impressive memorials in the Midwest.

The exterior of the building is made of limestone and features two projecting pavilions flanking a central three-story portico. The portico is adorned with a large bronze bas-relief sculpture of a World War I soldier and a granite tablet with the names of those Rockford veterans who lost their lives in service. The interior of the building includes a main hall, a grand ballroom and a library. Today, the building is home to the Rockford Area Veterans Council and is used as a public gathering space for veterans and their families.

Veterans Memorial Hall serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women of Rockford who have served in the military. It is an important part of Rockford's history and a fitting tribute to those who have served their country.
