WAYNE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY

The Wayne Historical Preservation Society (WHPS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the history of Wayne, Illinois. Founded in 2002, the WHPS strives to protect, preserve, and promote the unique and diverse historical, cultural, and architectural resources of Wayne and its surrounding area.

The WHPS has worked tirelessly to research, collect, and catalog historical documents, photographs, artifacts, and oral histories related to the town’s past. These items are used to educate the community and visitors about the town’s history and to preserve it for future generations. The WHPS also sponsors events, lectures, and exhibits to promote the community’s history.

The WHPS is an affiliate of the Illinois State Historical Society and is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The WHPS has also received numerous awards and recognition for its efforts including the National Trust’s Preservation Honor Award in 2005.

The WHPS is a volunteer-run organization and relies on the support of the community to carry out its mission. The WHPS welcomes all donations, both monetary and in-kind, to help support its efforts to preserve Wayne’s history.
