JANE ADDAMS HULL-HOUSE MUSEUM

Situated in the heart of the Near West Side in Chicago, Illinois, the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum (JAHM) serves as a memorial to social reformer and Nobel Peace Prize winner Jane Addams, who founded the Hull-House Settlement in 1889. The JAHM is a National Historic Landmark and the first woman-founded historic site in the United States.

The museum is free and open to the public, offering educational programs and exhibits about the life of Addams and the Hull-House Settlement. The museum offers permanent and rotating exhibits, as well as guided tours and special events. The permanent exhibits focus on the life and legacy of Addams, and the history and culture of the Near West Side. The rotating exhibits focus on social reform, immigration, and the labor movement, among other topics.

The museum also houses a research library, open to the public, which contains information about the history of the Hull-House Settlement and the life of Addams. Additionally, the JAHM hosts community events, such as lectures and workshops, and participates in public programming in order to educate and engage the public.

The mission of the JAHM is to inspire public dialogue and action on issues of social justice and human rights. In addition, the museum works to preserve and share the history of the Hull-House Settlement and the life of Addams, and to promote the values of social justice that Addams embodied.
