The Trust for African Rock Art (TARA) is an international non-profit organization that works to preserve, protect, and promote African rock art. It was founded in 1997 in Chicago, Illinois with the mission to conserve and protect the world's rock art heritage and to ensure that this heritage is respected, preserved and enjoyed by people around the world.

TARA works to preserve, protect, and promote the cultural and historic heritage of African rock art. The organization works in partnership with African communities to develop conservation strategies that are culturally sensitive and effective. TARA’s projects involve on-site research, mapping, and documentation of rock art sites, as well as community-based outreach and advocacy to protect and conserve these sites.

TARA also works to increase public awareness of African rock art by organizing exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. Through these activities, TARA helps to bring attention to the cultural value of rock art and to ensure that it is appreciated and respected.

The organization is funded by individual donations, grants, and corporate sponsorships. TARA has also received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the World Monuments Fund.
