The Deerfield Area Historical Society (DAHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and celebrating the history of the Deerfield area in Deerfield, Illinois. Founded in 1963, the organization’s mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Deerfield and the surrounding communities. DAHS is housed in the Deerfield Historic Village, a collection of seven historic buildings, including the Deerfield Village Hall, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a church. The society organizes educational programs and lectures, as well as historic house tours, special exhibitions, and a genealogical library for research. DAHS also publishes a quarterly newsletter and maintains a website with a variety of resources related to the history of the area. As part of its mission, the society works to preserve and protect historic sites throughout the area, including the historic Jewett Park and the historic Samuel Miller House. The society also works with local schools, churches, and other organizations to promote and celebrate local history. The society holds annual events such as the Deerfield Festival of History and the Deerfield Historical Society Annual Meeting and Reception. The society also sponsors the annual Deerfield Old Home Day celebration, which includes a parade, musical performances, and activities for children.
