The Highland Historical Society in Highland, IL is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the city’s history and heritage. Founded in 1985, the Society is dedicated to educating the public about the unique history of Highland, IL and its surrounding area.

The Society's goal is to collect, preserve, and make available historical documents, photos, artifacts, and other primary source materials pertaining to Highland. The Society has an extensive collection of books, documents, photographs, artifacts, and other primary source materials, including a significant collection of oral histories.

The Society also works to collect and preserve the history of surrounding communities, such as Grantfork and Pierron. The Society supports and promotes local history, genealogy, and other academic research related to Highland and its history.

The Highland Historical Society is open to all members of the public. It offers programs, events, and activities, such as lectures and workshops, to educate the public about Highland’s history. It also sponsors several outreach programs and activities, such as the Highland History Day, which is held each year on the third Saturday in October. The Society also sponsors the Highland Historic Tour, which is a two-mile walking tour of the city’s historic sites and landmarks.
