Located in Bloomington, Illinois, the David Davis Mansion is a state-owned historic site that was once the home of Supreme Court Justice David Davis. Constructed in 1870, the mansion is an example of Second Empire architecture, featuring a mansard roof, a rounded corner tower, and a cupola. The main house is constructed of Joliet limestone, and the grounds contain a formal garden and a carriage house where Davis parked his horse-drawn carriages. Inside, the main level features a grand staircase, parlor, library, and dining room. The second level contains bedrooms, dressing rooms, and an observation tower.
The home is furnished with period pieces, including furniture, artwork, and personal items that belonged to Davis and his wife. The home is open to the public for tours and educational programs. In addition to the mansion, the site includes a visitor's center and a museum that focuses on the life and legacy of Davis.
