Hedges Station Museum in Winfield, IL is a family friendly museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the Winfield area. Located in the historic Hedges Station building, the museum houses a variety of artifacts, photographs, and information about the area’s past.

The museum was founded in 1995 by the Winfield Historical Society, which was established in 1979 to preserve the area’s history. The Hedges Station building was built in 1853 and is the oldest surviving railroad station in DuPage County. It was originally used as a stop along the Chicago, Aurora & Elgin Railway, and later was used as a stop along the Chicago Great Western Railway.

At the museum, visitors can see a variety of exhibits, including a model railroad, a collection of antique farm equipment, and a variety of artifacts from the area’s past. The museum also houses a library of historical books, maps, and photographs. Visitors can also explore a variety of interactive exhibits, such as a model of the old railroad station and a replica of an early 19th century schoolhouse.

The museum is open from April through October and admission is free. The museum is operated by volunteers and is a great place to learn about the history of the Winfield area.
