WATERMAN AREA HERITAGE SOCIETY

The Waterman Area Heritage Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the Waterman area in Illinois. Founded in 1990, the society operates out of a restored 1890s train depot, which serves as a museum and community center.

The society's mission is to collect, preserve, and display artifacts and documents that illustrate the history of Waterman and the surrounding area. Exhibits in the museum include displays on local agriculture, industry, and transportation, as well as exhibits on the town's history and the lives of its residents.

In addition to operating the museum, the society sponsors a variety of events and programs throughout the year. These include historical tours, lectures, and workshops, as well as seasonal events such as a Christmas open house and a summer ice cream social.

Membership in the Waterman Area Heritage Society is open to anyone with an interest in local history and heritage. Members receive access to the society's resources and events, as well as the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping to preserve an important part of Illinois history for future generations.
