TOWNS COUNTRY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Towns County Historical Society (TCHS) was founded in 1975 to promote, preserve and share the history of Towns County, Georgia. TCHS is located in Hiawassee, Georgia, near the southern end of Lake Chatuge in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the county by collecting, preserving, and researching materials related to the county's history.

The main focus of TCHS is its museum, located in downtown Hiawassee. The museum features a variety of exhibits, including artifacts and photos from the county's past. TCHS also operates a research library and an archive containing a variety of documents, photographs and other materials related to the history of the county.
