Port of Savannah Savannah's port is next to the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, where this landscape that is so rich in birds and wildlife has been preserved. The refuge was one of my favorite stops.

American alligator swims in Savannah NWR Looking at the map, I see that although Savannah National Wildlife Refuge was a short drive right outside of Savannah, Georgia, much of the refuge is technically on the South Carolina side of the border, which is Lowcountry. This gator was swimming in Savannah NWR, South Carolina.

At The South Carolina Welcome Center Stopped for a bathroom break, a picture by the welcome sign, and to switch drivers. (That's not our car, by the way.)
