The Coweta Sports Hall of Fame Inc. in Newnan, Georgia, was established in 1983 to recognize and honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the sports and athletic programs in Coweta County. The Hall of Fame includes a variety of sports and athletics, such as baseball, basketball, football, golf, softball, tennis, track and field, soccer, and volleyball. The Hall of Fame honors outstanding athletes, teams, coaches, administrators, and supporters of sports in the county.
The Hall of Fame was established to commemorate, recognize, and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and success of the local sports programs. Each year, nominations are received from the community, and a selection committee reviews the nominations and selects individuals to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Those honored are recognized at an annual banquet, and their accomplishments are recorded in the Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame also works to promote and develop interest in the local sports programs, to provide scholarships to area students, and to recognize outstanding athletic achievement. They also provide educational and recreational opportunities for the youth in the area.
