Burritt on the Mountain is a scenic event venue located on top of Monte Sano Mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. The venue is an elegant, rustic-style retreat with breathtaking views of the Tennessee Valley.

The grounds include an 18th-century-style farmhouse and barn, as well as a blacksmith shop and other historic buildings. It is located on a 166-acre estate that offers outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, and rock climbing.

Burritt on the Mountain was founded in 1931 by Dr. William Henry Burritt, a local physician. He was inspired to build an educational center that would allow people to connect with nature, history, and culture. Today, the venue hosts a variety of events including weddings, conferences, retreats, and educational programs.

The grounds of Burritt on the Mountain are open to the public and feature a nature center, an observatory, and a museum that showcases the history of the Tennessee Valley. Visitors can also enjoy the natural beauty of the mountain from the terrace restaurant or the observation tower.

Rockets Away! 2012 Student Launch Projects (NASA, Marshall, 4/22/12) Specially crafted rockets soared high into the skies April 22 at the 2011-12 NASA Student Launch Projects challenge. More than 500 students, representing 53 middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities in 28 states, launched rockets of their own design -- complete with working science payloads or engineering payloads -- at Bragg Farms in Toney, Ala. The students vied to see whose rocket could come closest to the 1-mile altitude goal and safely return its onboard science payload to Earth. Fifty-one teams took part, though two faced mechanical or technical issues and did not launch. Ten preliminary awards were presented, and the grand prize -- $5,000 from ATK Aerospace Group in Salt Lake City, Utah -- will be awarded May 18 after final post-flight analysis and review are complete. This is the fifth year ATK has sponsored Student Launch Projects. Great Moonbuggy Race, 1994 (NASA, Marshall, Archive, 1994) The NASA Great Moonbuggy Race is an annual event, held at the US Space and Rocket Center and organized by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., in which high school and college students are challenged to design, build and race lightweight, human-powered moonbuggies that tackle many of the same engineering challenges dealt with by Apollo-era lunar rover developers at Marshall in the late 1960s. This photograph of the University of Alabama at Huntsville moonbuggy team was taken during the first running of the event at Redstone Arsenal in 1994 over the actual course where the original lunar roving vehicles were tested. NASA Social (Feb 2, 2015)3 State of NASA event at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center on Monday, Feb. 2 On Monday, Feb. 2 NASA Marshall invited social media followers to an in-person State of NASA event. The event included a tour of the center which showcased highlights of the work Marshall is doing on the Space Launch System, NASA’s new heavy lift rocket. Another tour segment included the development and maintenance on the advanced life support systems on the International Space Station, as well as the life support systems that could be used on future exploration missions to Mars and other deep space destinations.
