The Marietta Museum of History is a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing and preserving the history of Marietta, Georgia. Located in the historic Marietta Square, the museum houses a variety of exhibits and artifacts that tell the story of Marietta’s past. Visitors can explore more than 100 years of history, including the Civil War, the industrial revolution, and the early days of the city.

The museum’s permanent exhibits include a Civil War gallery and a display about the Great Locomotive Chase, a daring 1862 raid in which Union soldiers commandeered a Confederate locomotive. The museum also features rotating special exhibits that focus on local and regional history. Recent examples include a display about the Red Cross in Cobb County, a look at Marietta’s history of public education, and a tribute to local World War II veterans.

The Marietta Museum of History also offers a variety of educational programs and special events. These include guided tours, lectures, book clubs, and a variety of hands-on family activities. The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, and admission is free.
