The Bulloch County Historical Society in Statesboro, GA was established in 1965 with the mission to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Bulloch County and its people. The Society has an active membership of over 200 people and is located in the historic home of Mrs. Lillie Wylly.
The Society owns and operates a museum which is open to the public and contains artifacts and exhibits related to the history of Bulloch County. The museum includes displays on topics such as the Civil War, the early settlement of the county, the development of local industry, and various events and people related to the county’s history.
The Society also operates a research library which contains a variety of resources, including books, magazines, newspapers, manuscripts, photographs, and maps. The library collects material related to Bulloch County and its people and is open to the public during regular business hours.
The Society also sponsors a variety of educational programs, including lectures, seminars, and field trips. These programs provide an opportunity to learn more about the history of Bulloch County and its people.
In addition, the Society is actively involved in a variety of preservation efforts, including helping to identify and preserve historic sites, buildings, and other artifacts. The Society also works with local and state organizations to promote public awareness of Bulloch County history.
